Weekly Study Groups

St. Peter’s has three Bible Study groups that meet regularly:

  • Mondays – a home-based evening group that meets every second week at 6:30 PM
  • Tuesdays – an evening group that meets weekly at 7:00 PM at the church
  • Wednesdays – an afternoon group that meets weekly at 1:30 PM at the church

Monday Evening Study Group

The Monday Evening Study Group, called “A Walk Through The Bible”, will begin on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 6:30 PM, and will take place every two weeks with coffee/refreshments to follow. The group will meet at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Hares at 28 Brook Road South, Cobourg.
“A Walk Through The Bible” will begin at the very first verses of the book of Genesis and end with the book of Revelations. The purpose of the prologue of the Bible will be explained, and then the historical books examining the history of Israel will be presented in some detail. This will be followed by a brief review of the “philosophical books” (Job/Psalms) and the relevant sections of the prophets foretelling the coming of Christ and why he had to come.
This will then be continued with the books of the New Testament, briefly reviewing the life of Christ, but with particular reference to what was achieved by his death. Finally, we will then look at the first epistle to the Corinthians and St Paul’s letter to the Romans.

Wednesday Afternoon Study Group

Starting on Wednesday, October 8th at 1:30 PM, our Wednesday afternoon fellowship group will start its next in-person Christian-Ed Book Study with Pastor Bill & Fr. Matt. The group will meet in the Hutton Room.
We will be taking a journey this fall with writer Henri Nouwen, through his book, “The Return of the Prodigal Son”. The book is a profound meditation on the biblical parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15), inspired by Nouwen’s encounter with Rembrandt’s painting of the same name.
All are welcome to join us and books are available from the Church office @ $25 each.
